Lee Davis' Swift N80730

N80730 came to the Davis family from California in 1995 were they found it with
the wings off and a busted windsheild.  4 weekends later they flew it back to their home base of N. Little Rock, Arkansas. N80730 is a Globe built Swift, serial number 133 and originally left the factory as an 85hp GC-1A.  It now flies with a 150hp Lycoming O-320 engine with a constant speed prop and fiberglass downdraft cowl.

'730 then flew for 3 years before Lee started striping it for a new paint job August of 1998 . In Apr of 99 he put new glass in it and put the flight controls back on just so he could make take his Swift to the National Swift Fly-In at Athens, TN.

In Sept 99 Lee started to prep for paint with the results you see on this page. Then on Jan 9, 2000 Lee got to fly it again with this new paint job and with the original "N" number N80730 on the rudder!  Lee says he gave up the non-original "N" number of N8BZ... "just to make Jim Montague happy!".

Now that all is said and done, Lee did leave us with one last piece of advice regarding this project... "There is one thing I did learn during this year and a half.  If you can hire out for a strip and paint DO IT!  This is the last one Iwill do ..."
