Virginia Aviation Expo will be held at the Suffolk airport (KSFQ). Virginia Swifter George McClellan says, "...We have two swifts here and another two at (KPVG) which is 10 miles away. As an Airport commissioner and a Swift owner (N655S) I would like to invite any swift owner to attend. I can reserve space for aircraft but I need to know how many will attend. We are also trying to get reserved rooms at a good price. If we get a good interest we could turn this in to an annual event. Their will be a lot of venders on site. JUNE 13-15 Hinesville / Ft. Stewart, GA

From: Steve Berg stevebee@coastalnow.net  Hello Fellow Swifters, I wanted to inform you that the newly created 'joint usage' airport at Wright Army Airfield/Mid Coast Regional Airport is having an airshow June 13, 14, & 15, 2008. They will have at least the Aero Shell T-6's and several other acts as will as a couple of military teams. This is at Hinesville/Ft. Stewart, GA (KLHW) My little grass strip is only 9 miles from there and I think it would be a great opportunity to have a bunch of us get together. I would be happy to have you all at my airfield. I did go to the planning meeting and asked to have parking for visiting GA aircraft planned in and they are going to do something. SSAG troops are certainly welcome and I will be glad to host. A lot of motels in Richmond Hill, GA is just 10 miles up the road and a major I-95 interchange in Savannah only 14 miles, so plenty of sleeping accommodations nearby. I will give a hamburger fry on Sat eve or we could go down to the coast and have seafood at the Sunbury Crab Company. I haven't ever done anything like this so might need some suggestions. I think it would be a real kick to have 5 to 10 Swifts do a formation arrival at the airshow. this could be planned in by the Air boss I think. So, let me know the level of interest and then I will start my planning. If folks are 'airshowed' out there is still plenty to do around here, historic stuff, locally and Savannah just up the road, etc.  Swiftly, Steve Berg - N3348K

After some discussion with other local Swifters, we opted to host it here again this year. Swifter Kent Koester & Tom Richardson had offered to host at Cottage Grove, OR, but we learned the summer Olympic Trials in Eugene have completely sold out motels and hotels within 100 miles of Eugene.... I've done some checking and learned that the hotels in this area have openings, but both said they are beginning to book reservations for that weekend.  Don't wait to make your plans!!!

Thomson's Backyard: Seriously, you can always pitch a tent.... the temps are decent and we'll have inside bathrooms available for showers, etc. Sorry, we have our inside guest rooms spoken for (I think I'm getting a free annual this year!!!!!) As usual, we'll have ground transportation arranged with a rental van.... Kent and Tom have suggested that Cottage Grove might be a fun fly-out spot for lunch on Saturday. There is a small air museum on the field, a nice restaurant within walking distance, and a beautiful creek the weaves along the south end of the field. It's all only 45-50 minutes away...More details to follow.....
