THE SINGLE SEAT SWIFT!
From: Chuck & Debbie <gallcd@erols.com>
From Jim Montague... I have seen the single seat Swift many times, at Oshkosh, Kentucky Dam, etc. It has had several owners and was converted back to a "normal" looking Swift fuselage several years ago by Bill Walker in TX. I know a little story about the single seat Swift. At Kentucky Dam I believe in 1971 the airplane was there, owned by I believe, Gene Riemers of Prescott, AZ. Another Swifter was there and was offered the chance to fly it. Now if you didn't know that Swifter, he was good -- a damn good aerobatic pilot. And in 1971 we were all young and foolish. He had never flown this particular Swift before but on takeoff he did a roll! Not a perfect roll -- from about 50 feet he lost about 25 feet! It was pretty scary and after landing he was uncharacteristically quiet.
